Uli Ama

Location: Indian Himalaya

At the trailhead for our Himalayan trek, I sat out in the harvested field watching the villagers go about their daily chores. In a nearby house, Grandmother sat patiently while Mother swept the courtyard. Later the children told me to call her Uli Ama.
